2023 is going to be the year of change for me. Let me explain…

 

I am expanding my business and relocating to Colorado! As you may know, I have spent a considerable amount of time in Colorado these past two years. During those trips, I fell in love with the beauty and opportunities Colorado has to offer. Colorado is pretty much paradise for photographers with its stunning mountain backdrops. Beyond its beauty, it’s a great place for outdoor enthusiasts. I am looking forward to hiking, figure skating on frozen mountain lakes, and most of all skiing! In 2021, I went skiing in Colorado and realized what I was missing out on. So, I am very excited to primarily ski in Colorado this winter. If any of you have an EPIC pass for this season, come join me. 🙂

On a personal note, I also want to experience new places while I am still in my 20s. I am a Wisconsin native and Wisconsin will always be my home, but I do not want to look back at my life and regret not trying out someplace new.

Before I discuss this new transition a bit more, I wanted to highlight some past changes in my business thus far.

2018: The official start of Sarah Godfrey Photography in Madison, WI.

August 2020: Towards the end of 2020, I relocated back to the Milwaukee area and eventually started to market my business to the Milwaukee area.

2022: Did a lot of driving to serve both the Madison & Milwaukee areas almost equally. I did some calculations and here is the breakdown. (32 weddings/sessions in Madison, 25 weddings/sessions in Milwaukee, and 5 weddings/sessions in Colorado). As you can see, instead of giving up my Madison clientele, I just expanded the areas I serve.

Q: So what will your business look like going forward? 

A: Pretty similar besides adding Colorado into the mix!

I will be splitting my time between Wisconsin and Colorado! If you are in WI and have already booked for 2023 (or are hoping to) don’t worry! I will be back in WI for large chunks of the year.

Current 2023 couples – do not worry!! Nothing has changed for you and your wedding. All scheduled weddings are still on and I’m so excited to photograph them. The majority of my family lives in the Milwaukee area, so operating somewhat of a double state life is not an issue.

Corporate & Portrait Session Changes:

• I will continue to accept continuous 2023 Wisconsin bookings for team corporate headshots and corporate events.
• New individual headshots and portrait sessions bookings will be condensed into the dates I will already be in Wisconsin.
• 2023 college grads bookings will operate like normal. Like previous years, I plan on spending late April – early May capturing 2023 UW-Madison grads.

The great thing about owning your own business is you can craft it to fit your lifestyle. I do not plan on becoming a true “destination photographer” anytime soon…just expanding my service areas to truly try out the Colorado lifestyle.
