If you are considering eloping, try taking it up a notch (or knot 😉) by having your mini ceremony on a sailboat!

Rachael & Luke are huge sailing enthusiasts. They actually met on a 3-day sailing race and have been together ever since. Luke and Rachael like to sail for fun, but mostly race sailboats on Lake Michigan several times a week. When it came time to choose a location for their wedding, they figured, what could be more perfect than eloping on a sailboat. 

Luke and Rachael opted for both land and water wedding portraits. The first shooting location was Humboldt Park. After we shot a few portraits there, we headed down to the South Shore Yacht Club and boarded a 40 ft. sailboat.

Once we cruised to the perfect location, Rachael and Luke said their vows. For the rest of the evening, we sailed around, enjoying the beautiful Milwaukee skyline and golden light views.

I love photographing full day weddings, but having the opportunity to be on a sailboat again was just super special (I sailed recreationally in college). Beyond that, Rachael & Luke are two of the kindest people ever and made the evening so enjoyable. Check out some of my favorite images from their elopement below.
