Catey and Christian tied the knot on a warm September day. I couldn’t help but smile as I watched these two celebrate together and take in every moment with their loved ones.
“We chose St. Eugene for our ceremony because Christian’s family has a long history with the school/parish. His grandparents were some of the founding members when it was built in 1957, and his grandpa actually helped design the original layout of the church. His grandparents are no longer with us, so we thought it would also be nice to get married in a place that they were so connected to and still in a way have a presence in.
We weren’t totally sure what we wanted the vibe to be yet for our wedding, so we toured a few venues that were all kind of different. The River Club was the last venue we toured and something just felt right. From the big open event space, to the outside patio for cocktail hour, and the beautiful windows that overlook the golf course, we just fell in love with it. The natural beauty of the space felt comforting in a way, and we both could just really see ourselves celebrating in the space with our family and friends.”
What inspired your wedding decor? Did you have a theme in mind?
“We didn’t really have a theme in mind when we started planning. I’ve always been a fan of the classic, elegant theme/style so I think we tried to pull inspiration from there while also keeping it fun and fresh with the colors. Our main colors are navy and desert rose, so I feel like that helps to spice things up a little. When it came to decor though I knew I wanted candles to play a big role. I love the moody and romantic vibes candles give off, so all of our center pieces are going to floating candles with greenery woven through. I think it’s really going to help set the tone for the evening and give the space a beautiful look.”
Do you have any advice for future couples during planning process?
“Take your time and do things together. It’s always fun to plan something with your best friend, and even though you might disagree on some things, it always works out. Try not to sweat the small things. Figure out what is most important to you for your wedding day and focus on those things. It will be beautiful no matter what because it’s your day 🙂 “
