I have always loved photographing in the wintertime. There is just something so magical about fresh snow.
When I moved to Colorado, I was thrilled to find so many couples who also do not mind embracing the cold and want to capture their adventures in stunning, outdoor photo sessions. Growing up as a figure skater, I was already used to shooting photos on ice, so skiing with a camera felt like a natural next step. After my first ski photography session, I was hooked! As an avid skier and dedicated wedding photographer, I’m passionate about creating epic experiences for couples who want to bring their love of skiing or snowboarding into their engagement, proposal, or wedding day.
I’m an experienced skier and ready to join you on any terrain, whether it’s carving groomers or exploring back bowls! FAQs:
1. What ski resorts do you photograph at in Colorado? Will you travel out of state?
I currently photograph at Keystone, Breckenridge, Winter Park, Copper Mountain, Eldora, Arapahoe Basin, Vail, Beaver Creek, Steamboat Springs, Crested Butte, and Aspen/Snowmass. My lift ticket is included at each of these locations.
Have another Colorado mountain in mind or want to take your ski photography experience out of state? I'm happy to travel and can provide a custom quote based on the location you have in mind.
3. Can we have ski wedding photos without having a ski wedding?
Absolutely! You don't need to have a traditional ski wedding or elopement to incorporate skiing into your photographs. A ski session can be a fun addition to your wedding weekend, an engagement session, or even a dedicated portrait session before or after your wedding. You can spend part of the day doing something you genuinely enjoy together while still getting beautiful, intentional portraits.
4. How experienced do we need to be at skiing or snowboarding?
You don't need to be an expert! I can make you look good at almost any skill level, and you definitely don't need to do anything extreme for great photographs. I do recommend being comfortable enough to ski or snowboard at least blue runs, which gives us more options for finding scenic areas away from the busiest parts of the mountain.
If your schedule allows, I also recommend booking a weekday session when possible. The slopes and lifts tend to be less crowded, which gives us more flexibility for both skiing and portraits.
5. Can you photograph us skiing and take traditional wedding portraits, too?
Of course! I love combining action photographs with more traditional and editorial portraits. We can photograph you skiing, then take some time for beautiful mountain portraits in your wedding attire or other outfits. The session can be tailored around whatever experience you want to have. If there isn't enough time to fit traditional portraits into your ski session, we can also add on a separate engagement or portrait session.
2. Do we need a lift ticket?
Yes. You and anyone else participating in the skiing portion of the session are responsible for purchasing your own lift tickets. My lift ticket is covered at all of the Colorado resorts where I currently offer ski photography.
6. What happens if there's bad weather?
Colorado weather can be wildly unpredictable, especially in the mountains. If your ski session is scheduled separately from your wedding day, we'll keep an eye on conditions and can reschedule when necessary if weather makes traveling to or spending time on the mountain unsafe.
For wedding-day coverage, we'll work with the conditions we have and adjust the plan as needed. Mountain weather can change quickly, so flexibility is always important when planning ski photography.
