For Robbie and Estella, skiing was something they wanted to incorporate into their wedding weekend, but their wedding day was already packed. Instead of trying to fit mountain portraits into the timeline, they decided to take their pre-wedding portraits at Vail Ski Resort the day before they officially got married. It couldn’t have been a more perfect way to start their wedding weekend.
Robbie hit the slopes in a classic tuxedo while Estella wore a stunning all-white bridal look created specifically for their skiing portraits. We couldn’t have asked for better conditions for their Vail ski wedding photography session. It was a classic Colorado bluebird day, with bright sunshine, deep blue skies, and incredible mountain views.
As they made their way around Vail Mountain, people noticed. Skiers and snowboarders cheered them on, stopped to ask for photos, and even let us move ahead in line. The spontaneous interactions made the session feel even more like a celebration.
For their session, we combined editorial-style portraits with photographs of Robbie and Estella actually skiing together. I love this combination because you receive the beautiful, intentional portraits alongside images that capture something the two of you genuinely love doing together.
If you’re planning a Colorado ski wedding, you don’t necessarily have to fit skiing into your actual wedding-day timeline.
Robbie and Estella chose to spend part of the day before their wedding on the mountain, giving us plenty of time for both skiing and portraits without taking time away from their wedding day.
A pre-wedding or post-wedding ski session is a great option for couples who want to incorporate the mountains into their wedding experience while keeping their wedding-day timeline relaxed. You can ski together, take beautiful mountain portraits, and create something that feels personal to your relationship—without rushing from one wedding-day event to the next.
Whether you’re planning a ski wedding, elopement, engagement session, or simply want to incorporate skiing into your wedding weekend, Colorado offers an incredible backdrop for photographs. From Vail and Beaver Creek to Breckenridge and other mountain destinations, there are plenty of ways to make the mountains part of your wedding story.
Planning a Colorado winter wedding and thinking about incorporating skiing? It can be part of your wedding day or a dedicated pre- or post-wedding session. I’d love to capture the experience in a way that feels true to you.
